Smart Head Consulting is run on 20+ years of hands-on IT experience. Edinburgh-based, working directly with business owners across Scotland and the UK. No account managers, no outsourced support desk, no disappearing after launch. If your website needs something, you speak to the person who actually looks after it.
Questions
The things people ask before signing up.
- Who owns my domain and my website?
- While you are subscribed, we register and pay for your domain and we own the website build. Your content, images, brand and customer data are always yours. If you ever want the website fully in-house, a one-off buyout (10 times your monthly plan) transfers the domain and a copy of the site to you.
- What happens if I want to leave?
- It is rolling monthly with no minimum term, so you can cancel any time. Your paid period runs to its end, then the site goes offline. We keep your build for 60 days in case you change your mind or want to buy it out. Your own content and data are yours to take whenever you ask.
- How quickly do you respond?
- You email one person who knows your site. Small changes are usually done within a few working days, anything urgent sooner, and a site that is completely down is treated as an emergency on every plan.
- Do I need to sort out hosting?
- No. Hosting, backups and security are part of the plan, so there is nothing for you to arrange or pay for separately. If you already have a site somewhere, we will look at it and move it if that is the sensible thing to do.
- Do you build new sites, or only maintain existing ones?
- Both. Most of our work is building a new site and then looking after it, with no separate upfront fee. If you already have a site, we can take that on instead.
- What is not included?
- The plans cover building, hosting, security, backups, updates and your ongoing changes. They do not include online shops, customer logins, complex booking systems or bespoke tools, which are quoted separately. Copywriting, photography and logo design are not included either, though we can point you in the right direction.

We’ll take it from here.
Whatever it’s built on (Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, or something a previous developer put together), we’ll take an honest look and recommend the sensible route. Not every site needs the same answer.
If the site is fundamentally sound, there's often no need to start again. We bring it under a care plan, fix what's been neglected, and keep it properly maintained from here on.
Sometimes the platform itself is the problem: hard to maintain, expensive for what it does, or holding the site back. We move it somewhere more sensible without losing what already works.
Occasionally the honest answer is a rebuild, usually when a site has been patched together for years and is actively working against the business. We'll say so plainly if that's the case.
We won’t tell you every site can be simply migrated, because that isn’t true. We’ll look at what you actually have and tell you straight.
